SEATTLE, WA (PHILLYCRIMENEWS) — Six people have been shot at Seattle Pacific University.Seattle fire officials say a gunman is also wounded.

Police report two victims were at Otto Miller Hall.Witness Briana Clarke was inside Otto Miller Hall when the shots rang out. She was still unsure what was happening when she saw students running down the halls.”I first heard two muffled shots that I thought were two helium balloons,” she said.
Clarke then said she saw five to seven injured students inside the building. When she went outside, she saw several more bloodied students.”Seeing as how this is on a very, very safe campus in a very safe area made it much more shocking at first,” she said.University counselor Karen Altus was in her office less than a block from the crime scene when she got an alert about the shooting.”I’m in my office with four students with the blinds closed. We’re sitting on the floor with the door locked, very scared,” she said.Police officials say one person was in custody on the SPU campus and that officers and medics were on the scene. A man in his 20s died and at least 5 others were hospitalized after a shooting inside an engineering building on the campus of Seattle Pacific University on Thursday afternoon. Students and staff had disarmed the lone gunman. Kunming Railway Station, Yunnan province of China — Chinese officials said a group of men, apparently well organized have attacked a railway station killing at least 28 and wounding 116. In communist China, guns are illegal so there was no way for any of these people to put up a defense. Unlike in the United States where one well armed citizen with a concealed handgun could have prevented this bloodshed. A knife attack can be very quick and very deadly if the attacker happens to hit any of a number of vital areas. Any deep cut to a major artery such as the carotid artery in the neck area or the femoral artery in the upper leg region will quickly cause the victim to bleed to death unless a tourniquet is applied. Arteries carry oxygenated blood under high pressure from the heart whereas veins are carrying blood in it’s dexoy form back from the extremities so a cut to a vein is less dangerous than an artery. A cut to an artery will cause blood to shoot out forcefully whereas a cut to a vein will cause blood to flow out more slowly. IF you ever come across a person who has been stuck with a knife and the knife is still protruding from them DO NOT remove the knife ever. It may have severed an artery and may be the only thing holding the severed artery closed. Always leave the knife in them until they get to an emergency room.
