CHIGNIK LAKE IS LOCATED AT THE BOTTOM LEFT OF THE MAP NEAR THE WORDS “BRISTOL BAY”chignik lake alaskaON MARCH 8th 2010, CANDICE BERNER, A 32 YEAR OLD SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER WAS ATTACKED AND EATEN ALIVE BY A WOLF PACK IN CHIGNIK LAKE, ALASKA. THE FOLLOWING DETAILS THE ATTACK AND IT’S AFTERMATH. CANDICE BERNER WAS ORIGINALLY FROM PENNSYLVANIA. THE VILLAGE OF CHIGNIK LAKE IS VERY SMALL WITH LESS THAN 100 RESIDENTS. THE ONLY SCHOOL HAS LESS THAN 20 STUDENTS. ONE ROAD LEADS OUT OF CHIGNIK LAKE AND THERE IS AN AIR STRIP. THERE IS MUCH WILDLIFE IN THE AREA OF CHIGNIK LAKE INCLUDING BROWN BEARS, SNOWSHOE HARES, RED FOXES, LYNX, MOOSE, WOLVERINES, AND WOLVES. THE RESIDENTS OF THE COMMUNITY OF CHIGNIK LAKE ARE PREDOMINANTLY  ALUTIIQ. TWO WEEKS PRIOR TO THE ATTACK, THERE WERE REPORTS FROM SOME IN THE COMMUNITY OF WOLF SIGHTINGS. THESE ENCOUNTERS WERE SOMEWHAT NEUTRAL WITH THE WOLVES SIMPLY OBSERVING RESIDENTS FOR A TIME AND THEN MOVING ALONG. NEITHER PARTY BOTHERED OR HARASSED THE OTHER; BUT THE SIGHTINGS DID CAUSE SOME RESIDENTS CONCERN.

THE PEOPLE OF THE CHIGNIK LAKE COMMUNITY SURVIVE MAINLY BY SUBSISTENCE HUNTING AND FISHING AND IT IS A TRUE WILDERNESS AREA. ONE GAINS ACCESS TO THE COMMUNITY PRIMARILY VIA AIRCRAFT, AND LOCAL TRAVEL IS MAINLY BY SKIFF AND ATV (ALL TERRAIN VEHICLE).  ATV’S ARE ALSO CALLED “4 WHEELERS” IN SOME PLACES. A “SKIFF” IS A SMALL BOAT.

ALASKA WOLF ATTACK FATALITY

CANDICE BERNER EMBARKING FROM SMALL BOAT - COMMUNITY OF CHIGNIK LAKE, ALASKACANDICE BERNER IS A SLIGHT WOMAN. SHE WEIGHS 115 POUNDS AND IS 4 FEET 10 INCHES TALL. CANDICE IS VERY PHYSICALLY FIT AND LIKES TO KEEP IN SHAPE WHICH IS WHY SHE DECIDED TO GO  JOGGING ON MARCH 8th.  MANY OF THE WOLVES IN THE CHIGNIK LAKE AREA WEIGH AROUND 100 POUNDS, SO NEEDLESS TO SAY BUT A 115 POUND WOMAN IS HARDLY A THREAT TO A LONE WOLF, LET ALONE MULTIPLE WOLVES. ON MARCH 8th 2010, THE HIGH TEMPERATURE WAS 24 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT WITH A LOW OF 17 DEGREES AND THERE WERE HIGH WINDS  OF 35 MPH AND VERY HIGH GUSTS OF 54 MPH. THERE WAS SNOW AND BLOWING SNOW AND VISIBILITY WAS POOR; SOMETIMES AS LOW AS 70 FEET. THE SKY WAS OVERCAST.

ALASKA WILDERNESS MANIAC NANNYON THIS DAY, CANDICE PLANNED TO JOG ON THE ONE ROAD LEADING OUT OF THE TOWN AND TOLD HER COWORKERS AS MUCH. SHE HAD WORKED ALL DAY AND CLOCKED OUT AT 5:10 PM. CANDICE WAS DRESSED WARMLY WITH MITTENS AND SHE HAD EAR BUDS ON WITH WITCH TO LISTEN TO MUSIC. ONE COULD SPECULATE THAT SHE HAD JOGGED THIS ROUTE BEFORE WITHOUT INCIDENT, BUT THIS FACT IS UNKNOWN. WITH LESS THAN 40 MINUTES TO LIVE, SHE STARTED OUT ON HER RUN.

ALASKA WOLF ATTACKAS SHE STARTED HER RUN, HER DIRECTION WAS FROM WEST TO EAST AND HEADING AWAY FROM THE TOWN OF CHIGNIK LAKE. FOR A SEASONED RUNNER, 1.5 -2 MILES IS NOT A GREAT AMOUNT BUT WITH THE SEVERE CONDITIONS AND HAVING WORKED A FULL DAY ONE COULD SURMISE THAT SHE WAS SLIGHTLY WINDED AFTER ABOUT 25 MINUTES OF RUNNING AND POSSIBLY STARTING TO EXPERIENCE SOMEWHAT OF A “RUNNER’S HIGH.” AT THIS POINT IN TIME AND SPACE THERE WAS A STRONG WIND BLOWING IN HER DIRECTION OF TRAVEL AND THE ROAD ITSELF, A FROZEN TUNDRA, WAS BLOCKED VISUALLY AT VARIOUS POINTS BY SHRUBBERY WHICH AVERAGED ABOUT TEN FEET IN HEIGHT AND ALSO HAD BLIND CURVES. AT CERTAIN PARTS OF THE PATH VISIBILITY WAS NO MORE THAN 40 FEET.

WILD WOLVESUNBEKNOWNST TO CANDICE, WHILE SHE WAS TRAVELING EASTWARD, A SMALL PACK OF GRAY WOLVES, CANIS LUPUS, WERE TRAVELING WESTWARD. IT WAS AT THIS TIME THAT SHE FIRST SPOTTED THE WOLVES; AND THEY IN TURN SPOTTED HER.

CANDICE BERNER

THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THEM AT THIS ENCOUNTER WAS APPROXIMATELY 70 FEET AND THEY EACH HAD APPEARED TO EACH OTHER AS SHE ROUNDED A BLIND CURVE IN THE PATHWAY. AT FIRST SHE FELT HESITATION AND SLIGHT FOREBODING. THEN ATTEMPTED TO DECIDE WHAT TO DO. FOREBODING TURNED TO ALARM WHEN SHE OBSERVED THE DEMEANOR OF THE WOLVES AND BECAME AWARE THAT THE WOLVES HAD BEGAN TO ADVANCE ON HER SLOWLY BUT WITH PURPOSE. WITNESSES HAVE DESCRIBED THIS POINT IN THE ROAD AS CONTAINING ONE SET OF HUMAN FOOTPRINTS HEADING EAST WHICH ABRUPTLY TURN AND HEAD WESTWARD BACK IN THE DIRECTION OF CHIGNIK LAKE. BUT WITH 1.5 TO 2 MILES TO TRAVEL BEFORE REACHING THE VILLAGE, SHE REALIZED HER FATE WAS DETERMINED AND WAVES OF FEAR AND DREAD STARTED TO RUSH THROUGH HER BODY AND PANIC STARTED TO SET IN. HER KNEES STARTED TO TREMBLE AND BUCKLE AS SHE INCREASED HER SPEED AND SHE FELT THE URGE TO DEFECATE AND URINATE. AS SHE REALIZED THAT FIGHT WAS FRUITLESS, FLIGHT WAS HER ONLY OPTION. AND SO SHE FLED. DID SHE CRY OUT AS SHE WAS RUNNING? ONLY THE WOLVES KNOW. DID SHE CRY OUT FOR HER MOTHER? A BLIZZARD OF IDEAS RACED THROUGH HER HEAD AS THE FINAL 15 MINUTES OF HER LIFE WERE FLASHING THROUGH HER VISION AND EVERY IDEA THAT SHE HAD TOOK ON AN IMMEDIACY THAT WAS UNPRECEDENTED IN HER LIFE’S HISTORY. DID SHE COME TO CHIGNIK LAKE WITH A DESIRE TO BE EATEN ALIVE, TO BE RIPPED APART AND CONSUMED BY WOLVES? TO EXPERIENCE THE WILDERNESS IN IT’S MOST NATURAL STATE? SHE DID. SHE DID AND SHE WAS NOT TO BE DISAPPOINTED.

WOLF ATTACK LOCATION CANDICE BERNEROBSERVE THE ABOVE PHOTO. “B” INDICATES THE INITIAL DIRECTION OF TRAVEL OF CANDICE, WHICH SINCE THE PHOTO IS TAKEN LOOKING ABOUT SOUTHWARD IS FROM WEST TO EAST AWAY FROM THE TOWN OF CHIGNIK LAKE.  POINT “A” INDICATES THE DIRECTION OF TRAVEL OF THE WOLVES. POINT “C” IS THE SPOT WHERE A WITNESS DESCRIBED THE HUMAN FOOTPRINTS IN THE SNOW SUDDENLY REVERSING DIRECTION AND GOING BACK TOWARD THE RIGHT OF THE PHOTOGRAPH, OR WESTWARD TOWARD CHIGNIK LAKE. THIS IS THE POINT WHERE THE WOLVES AND CANDICE FIRST SPOTTED EACH OTHER VISUALLY.  AT THIS TIME, CANDICE BEGINS TO FLEE AND THE WOLVES BEGIN THEIR PURSUIT. AS THIS SITUATION UNFOLDS THE WOLVES COORDINATE THEIR ATTACK WITH TWO FOLLOWING HER ON THE ROAD AND A THIRD RUNNING SLIGHTLY AHEAD OF HER AND ABOVE THE ROAD BUT PARALLEL IN ORDER TO HEAD HER OFF.

ALASKA WOLF ATTACK CANDICE BERNERA FOURTH WOLF THEN JOINED IN THE ATTACK AFTER IT WAS UNDERWAY. “D” SHOWS THE WOLF MOVING PARALLEL TO THE ROAD AS IT STALKED HER. “E” SHOWS A SINGLE WOLF RUNNING JUST BELOW THE ROAD AND PARALLEL. THE ABOVE ILLUSTRATION REPRESENTS THE FINAL MINUTES OF CANDICE BERNER’S LIFE AND TAKES PLACE ACROSS AN AREA SLIGHTLY LARGER THAN A FOOTBALL FIELD. THE DISTANCE THAT SHE TRAVERSED FROM FIRST SIGHTING THE WOLVES UNTIL THE POINT AT WHICH SHE WAS KILLED IS 360 FEET. POINT “F” REPRESENTS A MITTEN. THE THUMB OF THIS MITTEN WAS FOUND TO BE TORN OFF AND THIS REPRESENTS THE FIRST CONTACT AND THE START OF THE PHYSICAL ATTACK. AT THIS TIME, CANDICE WAS RUNNING AND THE WOLVES HAD TO RUN TO CATCH UP TO HER. AT “G” HER OTHER MITTEN IS TORN OFF AS SHE TRIED TO KEEP THE BLOOD-THIRSTY WOLVES OFF OF HER. AND THIS REPRESENTS THE FINAL 2 MINUTES OF HER LIFE. AT “H” A LONE WOLF DESCENDS THE HILL AHEAD OF HER AND SHE IS KNOCKED DOWN ONTO THE ROAD FOR THE FIRST TIME. A DEPRESSION WITH BLOOD IS LEFT IN THE SNOW AND SHE HAS TWO WOLVES ON HER. SHE MANAGES TO STAND AND RUN ANOTHER 10 FEET AS THE WOLVES ATTACK HER NECK AND MIDSECTION. SHE IS KNOCKED DOWN A SECOND TIME AND THIS LOCATION IS MARKED WITH THE LETTER “I”. “I” SHOWS A LARGE DEPRESSION IN THE SNOW WITH A LARGER BLOOD STAIN. TRACKS IN THE SNOW INDICATE THAT SHE ATTEMPTED TO CRAWL BACK ONTO THE ROAD AS THE WOLVES WERE ATTACKING HER AS A GROUP AND WITH THE FURY OF A CYCLONE. AS THE SHARP WHITE TEETH OF THE WOLVES TEAR INTO HER NECK AND CUT THROUGH HER CAROTID ARTERY, A LARGE DARK RED POOL OF BLOOD IS SPILLED AT POINT “RP” AND THIS IS THE LOCATION WHERE SHE DIES, AND THE WOLF PACK BEGIN TO FEED ON HER SOFT WARM BODY. RIPPING OFF HER FLEECE JACKET, THE SHARP WHITE TEETH TEAR INTO THE SMOOTH CREAM COLORED FLESH  OF HER BREASTS AND ABDOMEN AND 4 SETS OF JAWS SPILL HER VISCERA ONTO THE SNOW WHERE THEY ARE CONSUMED BY THE WOLVES WITH VIGOR WHICH WILL BE REWARDED LATER WITH A DEEP SLUMBER AS THEY HAVE SATIATED THEIR GNAWING HUNGER. THEIR BRUTAL TREK THROUGH THE UNFORGIVING WILDERNESS HAS PAID OFF AND THEY ARE SAFE AND SECURE FOR SOME TIME INTO THE FUTURE. AND SO, ON HER BEST DAY, AND BECAUSE OF HER GREAT LOVE FOR WILD WOLVES AND HER LOVE FOR THE WILDERNESS, CANDICE GAVE THE WOLVES THE GIFT OF LIFE. AND THE WOLVES, IN RETURN, GAVE CANDICE THE GIFT OF DEATH. AND THE CYCLE OF NATURE CONTINUES. AND IT IS GOOD.

WOLVES – BY MANIAC NANNY – SOME WOLVES THAT YOU DO NOT WANT TO MESS AROUND WITH

wolves11111111111111111111111111111111111111111WOLVES ARE VERY BEAUTIFUL CREATURES. WOLVES STAY MOSTLY IN PACKS WHICH CAN RANGE FROM  SMALL TO LARGE. THEY DO NOT GET VERY COLD IN THE SNOW BECAUSE THEY HAVE A THICK FUR COAT. WOLVES SHOULD BE LEFT ALONE IN THE WILDERNESS AND SHOULD NOT BE CAPTURED FOR USE IN MOVIES OR TO BE KEPT IN A ZOO. WOLVES ARE VERY SMART CREATURES AND ARE WAY BETTER THAN HUMANS. A WOLF DOES NOT LIKE TO BE TRAINED LIKE A DOG DOES BUT IT IS POSSIBLE. WOLVES CAN RUN VERY FAST AND EASILY TRAVEL 25 MILES A DAY. A WOLF MUST BE CAREFUL NOT TO GET INJURED IN THE WILDERNESS BECAUSE THERE ARE NO VETS OR DOCTORS TO TAKE CARE OF THEM SO EVEN A SMALL INFECTION CAN KILL THEM. WOLVES ARE VERY POWERFUL AND CAN KILL CREATURES MUCH LARGER THEN THEMSELVES. WOLVES ARE AN ENDANGERED SPECIES AND SHOULD NOT BE HUNTED. IF YOU HUNT WOLVES FOR SPORT THAN YOU ARE A PIECE OF GARBAGE.   wolves1 1566-643322 AM.0070-24 Gray or Timber Wolf(Canis lupus) snarling on an elk carcass(capt wolves111111111111WOLVES ARE MUCH LIKE DOGS AND DOGS HAVE EVOLVED FROM THEM. THE GENUS AND SPECIES NAMES FOR A WOLF ARE CANIS LUPIS . THE GENUS AND SPECIES NAMES ARE ALWAYS UNDERLINED OR ITALICIZED. WOLVES ARE SMARTER THAN YOU AND THEY ARE FEARLESS. IF YOU TRY TO SCARE A WOLF AWAY IT WILL NOT BE SCARED AND WILL WATCH YOU AND STUDY YOU FOR A WEAKNESS UNTIL IT KNOWS THAT IT CAN ATTACK AND KILL YOU. A WOLF CAN BE MIXED WITH A DOG BUT IN MANY STATES THIS IS ILLEGAL SO DO NOT DO IT UNLESS YOU KNOW THE LAW. WOLVES HAVE PATIENCE AND WILL STALK PREY FOR DAYS WEARING IT DOWN UNTIL THEY KILL IT. WOLVES DO NOT SWEAT THEY PANT INSTEAD OF SWEATING TO COOL THEIR TEMPERATURE LIKE DOGS DO. WOLVES CAN HEAR FREQUENCIES THAT PEOPLE CANNOT HEAR AND HAVE A WAY BETTER SENSE OF SMELL. THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THIS PLANET THAT I WOULD ENJOY WATCHING BEING EATEN ALIVE BY A PACK OF HUNGRY WOLVES. wolves111111111111111
